Christine is currently consulting with party members over some of the key issues facing the party in the coming year. As part of this consultation Christine would like your views on the following 2 areas:

1. Once the SNP becomes the biggest single political party in Scotland do you think they should form a coalition or instead run a minority administration?

2. How soon should the SNP hold a referendum on independence after becoming the biggest party?

The following comments have been received

1. Your Name?:
   'Shirley Potts'
3. Your choice for an SNP Government?:
   'SNP/Rainbow government'
4. When should the Referendum be held?:
'Not until the SNP wins a 2nd term'
5. Any other comments?:
'I would prefer a coalition between the LibDems and SNP but I feel that the LibDems have betrayed their own prinicples about PR and coalitions by being so bloody minded about the referendum.  This will not serve them well! I think they also took this stance before the election because they thought the SNP wouldn't win and now they can't be seen to go back on their word.'

1. Your Name?:
   'Lis Bardell'
3. Your choice for an SNP Government?:

5. Any other comments?:
'What an absolutely terrific website! Congratulations and all the best on May 3rd.

Suggest you highlight particularly Elaine C Smith's interview on SNPtv Thursday... she was excellent.

Suggest also closing days of campaign should emphasise people's anger at Iraq as summarised by Elaine. It's a major issue for voters of all persuasions in my network.

Re coalitions, I think SNP should, frankly, let others come to them. It's everyone's obligation to make the Parliament work-that's my understanding of the reasoning behind how it was set up.
I seriously don't think that we should allow difficulties in establishing a coalition as a) fatal or b) somehow the fault of SNP or Alex Salmond personally.

Thank you for opportunity to comment. The main web site would benefit from same.'

'It is essential that the party does NOT get involved with the Lib Dems a party who take credit for everything and responsibility for nothing and whose political clout as a coalition partner grossly outweighs their vote share. Call all their bluffs "Go It Alone IT'S TIME !

We must prove to the Scottish people our competence as a Government  before we can expect them to give their approval for the final step After being duped and deceived by Labour they quite rightly will not buy a "Pig in a Poke" '

'Important to be seen as delivering hence referendum should be held within 6 months and to curtail time opposition has to but a fear campaign together - I've overheard people saying things like they are not sure about an independent Scotland because they think it will affect their savings, pension, etc.'

Capitalise on electoral success by going for the "Independence Referendum" asap.  Don't give the unionists time to organise an anti-independence campaign.'

'I feel it would be important to form a coalition as against a minority Government, as initially it should be easier to have another party on our side until we have time to bed in, rather than fight a blanket opposition. I said Greens because  the Independence referendum is non-negotiable.
Rgarding timing of referendum, for me, this is the crucial part of the end game, so I thought anytime between 1 year and 18months and also if possible when the media appear to be showing favourable reporting on the SNP coalition, even if that is earlier than one year. '
