CHRISTINE TO BECOME CONVENER OF PARLIAMENT’S HEALTH AND SPORT COMMITTEE
Scottish National Party MSP Christine Grahame is expected to be elected by MSPs later today as Convener of the Health and Sport Committee. Ms Grahame, who chaired the committee in the last session of Parliament, was also previously convener of the Parliament’s Justice Committee. Commenting on her nomination, Ms Grahame said:
“It is clear that in this next session of Parliament there will be intense public scrutiny on matters related to health and sport. I am obviously delighted to be nominated for this position and certain it will prove challenging and stimulating.
“There are obvious areas related to health in particular which will have a direct bearing on the provision of health services in the Borders and which this committee will examine in close detail.
“Similarly the issue of sport is an area which will see increased parliamentary focus in the coming months and years ahead and one which is of great importance to many Borderers.
“I very much look forward to what will be an interesting committee agenda and one which I am certain will stimulate intense debate and interest.”
