CHRISTINE INVITES BORDERS PUPILS TO TAKE PART IN PARLIAMENT COMPETITION
Pupils from across the Scottish Borders are being encouraged to take part in the National Youth Parliament Competition by SNP MSP Christine Grahame. Ms Grahame, who has herself judged the competition in previous years said:
“This competition not only enables young people to learn about and engage with the political process, it can be great fun too. I have been a bit disappointed however that in previous years no Borders teams have taken part.
“Borderers have a reputation for expressing their opinions in a forthright and direct manner and I am certain they would bring a refreshing contribution to this competition.
“But the great thing is that the competitive element is only one side of it. Everyone who takes part gains something from doing so."
NOTES: 1. The National Youth Parliament Competition is organised by the Citizenship Foundation and is open to teams of young people aged 12-18. 2. Closing date for registration is 14th December 2007 3. More information is available from www.citizenshipfoundation.org.uk/nypc
