MIDLOTHIAN COUNCIL URGED TO BACK HOGMANAY BUSES
SNP MSP Christine Grahame has called on Midlothian Council to back a scheme to allow people in Penicuik to travel to Edinburgh and enjoy the Hogmanay celebrations in the capital. Neighbouring East Lothian Council which is jointly run by SNP Councillors today (Friday) confirmed a courtesy buses service will operate from the region to Edinburgh and Ms Grahame believes Midlothian Council should do the same for the people of the town. She said:
“I am urging Midlothian Council to support a scheme similar to that adopted by East Lothian Council and ensure the people of Penicuik get the chance to safely enjoy the festivities in Edinburgh during Hogmanay.
“I accept that Labour councillors may not feel like celebrating given their recent calamitous implosion over illegal donations, losing the personal details of half the population and overseeing the biggest run on a bank in living memory. But that should not stop the rest of us from enjoying the festivities.
“A courtesy bus service at Hogmanay would be welcome boost for the town and hopefully Labour Councillors will drag themselves out of their self-imposed gloom and support my call.”
