West Linton Primary School’s 100th year saluted by Parliament

West Linton Primary School has been recognised at the Scottish Parliament as it prepares to celebrate its centenary year. SNP MSP Christine Grahame has lodged a parliamentary motion marking the 100th year celebrations that will take place during Whipman Week which runs from the 5th to 13th of June. Ms Grahame said:

“My parliamentary motion extends the best wishes of the Parliament to the teachers, children and wider community of West Linton as they prepare to mark their 100th year on the 12th of June.

“I understand that West Lintonians will be returning from abroad in this year of Homecoming to take part in the celebrations and I am sure Whipman Week will be highly successful and fun filled.”

The First Minister of Scotland, Alex Salmond MSP, has also written to the school to extend his best wishes on behalf of the Scottish Government.

The parliamentary motion reads:
Happy 100th Birthday, West Linton Primary school
That the Parliament wishes the teachers, children and the community of West Linton a happy celebration of the 100th birthday of West Linton Primary School on 12 June 2009; notes that, in this Year of Homecoming, there are West Lintonians returning for both Whipman week, from 5 to 13 June 2009, and the centenary of the school, and wishes all West Lintonians a successful and fun week.
