Grahame impressed by first class performance at Ancrum Primary School

“If this is work I’m very lucky,” was how Christine Grahame MSP described her visit to Ancrum Primary School on Friday to join in their Kilts for Kids Day celebrations.

Ms Grahame was the guest of honour at the school’s contribution to Homecoming, where she was given a tour around the school and joined parents and guests to hear the children perform songs and poems and see them take part in traditional Scottish dances.

Ms Grahame, who wore her Grahame tartan sash, said: “The children did a great job of showing me around their displays and they should be very proud of how they conducted themselves.
“I had a lovely chat with them about their Wallace and Bruce project and their performance in the school hall was first class – I particularly enjoyed their “Three Craws” routine!”

Following the show Ms Grahame was invited to present the school’s Eco Committee with its second green flag, which was attained last month.

She added: “It’s an excellent achievement for a small rural school to achieve a second green flag and I commend the youngsters and the staff involved on their green credentials.

”I was also taught how to make special fat balls for the birds in my garden, which I fully intend doing in order to recycle my yoghurt pots and also save some money!”
