Consultation on Radio and Television Services

in the Scottish Borders

I have been contacted by constituents about broadcasting services in the Borders – particularly on ITV.  Many are also concerned about the forthcoming switch to digital television and the switch off of the current analogue system.  Lack of news programmes and other programmes of Borders interest has also been a frequent complaint.  I have raised these matters with the First Minister and the Culture Minister in the Scottish Parliament and executives from the broadcasting companies.

The Scottish Government has recently established a broadcasting commission and this will be an ideal opportunity to try and get some of the issues regarding TV services in the Borders addressed.

It is important that your views are represented.  I have therefore undertaken this survey of Borderers’ views to submit a report to the commission.

No stamp is required – please use the enclosed FREEPOST envelope. To save postage costs and stationary there is only one consultation per household – but please consider all views in replying.  Responses have to be submitted soon so please reply by return and I will represent your views.

Yours for Scotland
