London Labour neglect local people following HMRC decision

Responding to the announcement that HMRC are to close its Galashiels and Hawick offices SNP MSP Christine Grahame said:

”This is an appalling decision by the Labour Government and will be particularly hard for staff at this time of economic crisis. It will mean that businesses and people in the Borders will be unable to access information locally and specific to their needs.

“Scotland appears to have taken a disproportionately high number of the HMRC office closures which highlights the contempt the British Government have to maintain jobs and services here.

“The Borders economy is particularly vulnerable to job losses and many people will be angry that once again the Government in London is neglecting their needs.”
